2020 You REALLY Were a Custard!

For many years one of my guilty pleasures has been reading all sorts of magazines - some more enlightening and thoughtful than others. My favorite is Vanity Fair. Oh how I miss Dominick Dunne and his coverage of real life high profile crimes!

Of course that’s another story altogether. (Sorry for the grisly reference, but I was previously In law enforcement and corporate security prior to my reinvention as a Love Coach and Matchmaker).

Now on to what I want to say today! Actually for most of the year I haven’t known exactly what TO say. So here we are wrapping up the end of this dreadful year. I saw this apt little snippet recently in Vanity Fair and thought it summed things up quite well. Forgive me if any of this offends you. We really must all have a great sense of humor at this point. If you don’t have one, I’ll ask Santa to bring one. Enjoy! Or get mad at me - hopefully you don’t.

Humor by Marilyn Minter:

Dear 2020,

You’ve been a real (rhymes with custard). I’ve blocked you on social media, deleted your number and torn up your picture. Hope to never see you again, baby.

It’s not me, it’s you. (Rhymes with cluck) off!!

Well I hope you’re laughing. That was the goal. Yes, please laugh a lot, love everyone in spite of their craziness this year especially. Even the most sane among us has had a rough time with this custard of a year.

So I ate too many carbs including a lot of my favorite thing - cake, drank too much wine, ignored the gym too often and wasted more time in general. I also, started a new exercise regimen I love, kissed my husband a million more times, Laughed at a ton of silly movies and tried to be more kind and loving even when I felt more like shouting instead.

Whatever you did or didn’t do this year give yourself a break. After that give others a break too. No one is perfect. Lord knows a lot of us try. Martha would be proud of my efforts to do things from scratch and even better this time. Yes, I do mean Martha Stewart.

Well, I could just keep on writing, but we all have holiday things to attend to - cleaning, baking, cooking, and so on. As for me I’m planning to make a few things like bacon jam and chocolate rum cake just to send 2020 off in style - undeserved as it is.

Sending you lots of love and joy. My grandest hope is for a world that works for everyone! Let’s visualize that, shall we? After all everything we have today was first just a thought in someone’s mind. (Singles be sure to visualize yourself in a wonderful love relationship!)

Happy Christmas and the Merriest of Holidays to you! See you in 2021!!! XOXOXO
